- Information for Danish citizens Reservations made on non-Danish websites or car hire brokers are not valid for Danish citizens who are registered within the Danish national register (Folkeregister) due to the Danish registration fee laws. If you are a Danish citizen please book your car at <a href="https://www.avis.dk">avis.dk</a> or contact Avis RerservationCentre in Denmark on phone +45 33 26 80 80 or e-mail reservation@avis.dk.
- Can I pick up the vehicle from one rental location and return it to another? Yes, some rental locations let you collect the vehicle and any optional extras from one rental location and return them to another. How much is the One-Way fee? The price depends on the rental location. If you want to pick up the vehicle and return it to a different location in the same country, you can expect it to be between 250 DKK and 2000 DKK. If you want to pick up the vehicle in one country and drop it off in another country, you can expect it to be between 1000 DKK and 20.000 DKK. How do I get a One-Way rental? You can request a one-way rental when you book or you can ask for it when you get to the rental location. If you asked for a one-way rental when you booked, the fee will be included in your rental price. How much will it cost if I did not request a One-Way rental but return the vehicle to a different location? You will be charged a one-way fee at the pay at location prices available on the day you return the vehicle.

- How old do I have to be to drive a rental vehicle? To drive our vehicles, you and all your drivers must be at least 19 years old and have held a full driver's license for at least 12 months at the start of your car rental. A higher minimum age limit may apply to certain vehicles. How do I know if there are age restrictions on my car rental? When you make your reservation, you will be told if there are any age restrictions for the vehicle you are requesting. If you are not sure, please check your booking confirmation email - or call the reservations team. I'm under 25; Do I have to pay a young driver extra fee? If you or any of your drivers are under 25 when you pick up the vehicle, you will each have to pay a young driver surcharge. The cost of this will depend on where you pick up the vehicle but you can expect it to cost around DKK 100 per day for each driver. If you rent the vehicle for more than 10 days, you will only be charged for a maximum of 10 days and get coverage for the duration of your car rental, up to 30 days. Are there any maximum age restrictions? No, as long as you have had a full driving licence for at least 12 months. I am over 70 years old, do I need to provide extra information or pay an extra fee for elderly driver? No, as long as you have had a full driving licence for at least 12 months.
- Requirement to bring a valid driving licence with you In Denmark, all drivers must bring their valid driving licence with them. For a drivers license to be accepted at our locations it must be in one piece, legible and valid during the rental period. If any of the following applies: their driving licence was issued in another European country, their driving licence was issued in a non-European country or their driving licence was issued in a non-roman alphabet language like Arabic, Greek, Russian, Hebrew or Japanese, and we cannot confirm with certainty the details included within the driving licence, the driver will also need to provide either an international driving licence or an official English translation, by a notary, of their driving licence. If this might apply to you, please contact us (prior to your pickup date) as we would be pleased to confirm if an international licence or official translation will be required. We do not accept digital driving licences or documents, all documents must be presented physically. Minimum licence requirements All drivers must have held their licences for at least 12 months from the date of pick-up. A higher minimum age limit and licence validity may apply for certain vehicles. This will be shown during the booking process or disclosed to you before completing the booking. If a licence does not show the driver has held it for the minimum period, then they must provide evidence, such as: previous driving licences; or a letter from their driving licence authority stating that they have held it for this minimum period.
- The prices we offer you for optional extras when you book will generally be the price you have to pay. Exchange rates or other reasons beyond our control may change prices. Customers with disabilities I have a disability, do you offer accessible vehicles? No, unfortunately, we do not offer disabled vehicles at this time. I have a disability, do you offer hand controls? No, unfortunately, we do not offer hand controls or panoramic mirrors at this time. Popular options for rent I have small children, do you offer child seats? Yes, we offer baby seats and car seats. A baby seat is typically suitable for a child from birth to 12 months old who weighs no more than 13 kilograms. A car seat is typically suitable for a child aged 1 to 4 years who weighs between 9 and 18 kilograms. A booster seat is typically suitable for a child aged 4 to 11 who weighs between 15 and 36 kilos. Please note: In Denmark, all children must use a car seat until they are more than 135 cm tall according to Danish law. How much do your child seats cost? The fee for renting a car seat depends on where and what seat you rent - but you can expect it to cost between DKK 100 and DKK 250 for the duration of your car rental, up to 30 days. If the seat is damaged, lost or stolen, you will have to pay for a replacement. This will probably cost between 100 DKK and 500 DKK on top of the rental fee. If you can demonstrate that the damage or loss was not in any way your fault or due to your negligence, we will reimburse these expenses. I'm not familiar with the area; Can I rent GPS (satellite navigation system)? Yes, we offer a few products with satellite navigation systems. GPS device - fee for renting a GPS is approximately 125 DKK per day. If you rent the vehicle for more than 8 days, you will only be charged for a maximum of 8 days and will be allowed to use the GPS for the duration of your car rental, up to 30 days. If the GPS is damaged, lost, or stolen, you will have to pay for a replacement. This will probably cost between DKK 1,000 and DKK 2,500 on top of the rental fee. If you can demonstrate that the damage or loss was not in any way your fault or due to your negligence, we will reimburse these expenses. Travel Companion Tablet This offers a GPS service as well as other useful features that you may need when traveling. The fee for renting a Travel Companion Tablet is 200 DKK per day. If you rent the vehicle for more than 10 days, you will only be charged for a maximum of 10 days and will be allowed to use the device for the duration of your car rental, up to 30 days. If the Travel Companion Tablet is damaged, lost, or stolen, you will have to pay for a replacement. This will probably cost DKK 2300 in addition to the rental fee. If you can demonstrate that the damage or loss was not in any way your fault or due to your negligence, we will reimburse these expenses. Please note: In some countries, it is illegal to use GPS that tells you where speed cameras are. If you are planning to travel outside of Denmark, you should check if you can use our GPS as it will provide you with speed information. Do you offer an audio guide service on your GPS? No, unfortunately, we do not offer an audio guide service at this time. Do you offer a traffic alarm to help me with traffic alerts? Yes, we offer a traffic alert to help you be alerted to traffic incidents, as well as help you save time in traffic. How much does the traffic alarm cost? The fee for renting a traffic alarm will depend on the rental location but you can expect it to cost between DKK 60 and DKK 100 per day. If you rent the vehicle for more than 10 days, you will only be charged for a maximum of 10 days and will be allowed to use the traffic alarm for the duration of your car rental, up to 30 days. If the traffic alarm is damaged, lost or stolen, you will have to pay for a replacement. This will probably cost DKK 600 on top of the rental fee. If you can demonstrate that the damage or loss was not in any way your fault or due to your negligence, we will reimburse these expenses. How much does a BroBizz cost? The fee for the Brobizz unit depends on where you are going and the size of the car, but you can expect it to cost between DKK 540 and DKK 1,440 for a return trip. If the device is damaged, lost, or stolen, you'll need to pay for a replacement. This will probably cost about DKK 500 on top of the rental fee. If you can demonstrate that the damage or loss was not in any way your fault or due to your negligence, we will reimburse these expenses. I would like to be able to access the internet wherever I am, can you offer a solution? Yes, we offer a few products that provide access to the Internet Mobile WIFI - At the main airport offices, we offer Mobile Wi-Fi devices (CPH & BLL). That provides 500MB of data per day. We provide this service on behalf of a third party so you will need to read and agree to their separate terms and conditions. We provide these terms and conditions to you at the rental location. How much does mobile Wi-Fi cost? The fee for renting mobile Wi-Fi will depend on where you rent but you can expect it to cost DKK 100 per day. If your mobile Wi-Fi device is damaged, lost, or stolen, you'll need to pay for a replacement. This will probably cost between DKK 500 and DKK 1,500 on top of the rental fee. If you can demonstrate that the damage or loss was not in any way your fault or due to your negligence, we will reimburse these expenses. If your SIM card or mobile Wi-Fi accessory is damaged, lost, or stolen, you'll need to pay for a replacement. This will probably cost between DKK 500 and DKK 1,500 on top of the rental fee. If you can demonstrate that the damage or loss was not in any way your fault or due to your negligence, we will reimburse these expenses. Travel Companion Tablet - This offers 1GB per day as well as other useful features that you may need when traveling. The fee for renting a Travel Companion Tablet is 200 DKK per day. If you rent the vehicle for more than 10 days, you will only be charged for a maximum of 10 days and will be allowed to use the device for the duration of your car rental, up to 30 days. If the Travel Companion Tablet is damaged, lost, or stolen, you will have to pay for a replacement. This will probably cost DKK 2300 in addition to the rental fee. If you can demonstrate that the damage or loss was not in any way your fault or due to your negligence, we will reimburse these expenses. If any of the Travel Companion Tablet's accessories are damaged, lost, or stolen, you'll need to pay for a replacement. This will probably cost DKK 2300 in addition to the rental fee. Please note: In many countries, it is illegal to drive while using a handheld mobile phone, tablet, or other communication device. It is your responsibility to drive safely and in accordance with the laws of the country you are driving in. I'm worried about road conditions, do you offer all-season tyres? Yes, we supply all-season tires for a fee. This will depend on where you rent - but you can expect it to cost about 50 DKK per day. If you rent the vehicle for more than 15 days, you will only be charged for a maximum of 15 days and will be allowed to use the all-season tires for the duration of your car rental, up to 30 days. If you plan to travel to Sweden or Germany, it is illegal to drive without all-season tires at certain times of the year. If any all-season tires are damaged, lost, or stolen, you'll have to pay for a replacement pair. You can expect this to cost between DKK 2,000 and DKK 16,000 on top of the rental fee. If you can demonstrate that the damage or loss was not in any way your fault or due to your negligence, we will reimburse these expenses. Please give us at least 1 day's notice if your car rental does not automatically include all-season tires and you wish to rent them. If you need them at shorter notice, you can call the reservations team. Are you in doubt about whether you need all-season tyres? Ask a member of our team. I am going skiing, do you offer snow chains? Snow chains are available at some rental locations. The fee for snow chains depends on where you rent but you can expect it to cost between DKK 150 and DKK 200 for the duration of your car rental. If a snow chain is damaged, lost, or stolen, replace it. This will probably cost DKK 500 in addition to the rental fee. If you can demonstrate that the damage or loss was not in any way your fault or due to your negligence, we will reimburse these expenses. We cannot install snow chains for you and we cannot arrange to have them fitted. Are you in doubt about whether you need snow chains? Ask a member of our team. I have brought my own skis, do you rent out ski racks? No, unfortunately, we do not offer ski racks at this time. I forgot my hands-free kit, do you rent them out? No, unfortunately, we do not offer hands-free kits at this time. I need to move items, do you rent out blankets? Yes, at Albertslund and Copenhagen DT rental site the fee for a blanket is 65 kr. I need to move items, do you rent out trailers? No, unfortunately, we do not offer trailers at this time. Options available for purchase I forgot my USB charger, do you sell them? No, unfortunately, we do not sell USB chargers at this time. I forgot my mobile charger, do you sell them? No, unfortunately, we do not sell mobile chargers at this time. I want to charge my device in the car, do you sell car chargers? No, unfortunately, we do not sell car chargers at this time. I forgot my iPhone 5 cable, do you sell them? No, unfortunately, we do not sell iPhone 5 cables at this time.
- Should I bring the vehicle back with a full tank of fuel? Yes. The vehicle will normally be supplied with a full tank of fuel. You must return it to us with the same amount of fuel it had in it when you picked it up, usually a full tank, as shown on the factory-installed fuel gauge. We recommend you fill up as close to the return location as you can on the return date, and keep the receipt to show us. If you do not return the vehicle with a full tank and you can not show us a receipt for fuel, we will charge you. Fuel Options I plan to travel more than 300 km, and want peace of mind, do you have a fuel option for me? Yes, with Fuel Up Front you pay for a full tank of fuel, based on the manufacturers stated fuel tank capacity for your vehicle plus our costs of refuelling the vehicle for you. Then you just return the vehicle with whatever is left in the tank (even if it is virtually empty) so long as the engine still runs. How do I calculate the cost of Fuel Up Front? Depending on where you are renting, we charge the average fuel price at the start of your rental period However, you do not get a refund for any fuel you do not use. Can I get Fuel up Front at any time? No, if you want to take advantage of Fuel Up Front, you must ask for it during the booking process or when you pick up the vehicle. I plan to travel less than 100 kilometres, do I still need to fill up? Yes, often the fuel gauges stills look full so we ask you to fill up the tank near to the return location and show us a copy of the receipt. If you do not have time to fill up the tank, or can not show us a receipt, we will apply a fee to cover our costs of refuelling the vehicle for you. This charge covers our cost of driving to the nearest petrol station at short notice, and potentially delaying the next customers rental. How much does it cost me if I do not return the vehicle full and have not bought Fuel up Front? Depending on where you are renting, we charge between 1.5 and three times the average fuel price at the end of the rental period in Denmark The price per litre will be stated on your rental agreement. This charge covers our cost of driving to the nearest petrol station at short notice, and potentially delaying the next customers rental. Electric Vehicles How much battery charge should I return an electric vehicle with? You must return the vehicle with at least a 70% battery charge, or the same % battery charge as it had at the time of pick-up. What am i charged if I fail to return an electric vehicle with the required 70% battery charge, or the same % battery charge as it had at the time of pick-up? We charge a fixed amount dependent on the battery life showing on the factory-installed battery gauge. This is the Pay on Return rate. the amounts charged are set out below: Battery Charge Fixed cost (inclusive of VAT) If you return the electric vehicle with 70% or more battery charge. No Cost If you return the electric vehicle with 69% battery charge. DKK 502.00 If you return the electric vehicle with 9% or less battery charge DKK 653.00 Charging Solution Yes, when renting electric cars, a service called Northe is included. Northe brings together several charging operators in one solution. The solution can be used voluntarily by using the charging chip attached to the car key. With the charging chip, the electric car is charged at the charging stations associated with Northe, at market price plus an administration fee of 25%. If the charging key is not returned at the end of the tenancy, a fee will be charged. The customer will be responsible for all charging that is carried out until the lease is finally closed. This means that if the car is handed over outside opening hours, or in other ways which mean that there is a period of time between handing over and until the charging pad is in our possession, then the renter is liable for any consumption. If you would like further information, please contact one of our rental offices. Charging Cables Electric/Hybrid vehicles Electric vehicles and plug-in hybrid vehicles are supplied with charging cables. Which charging cables are supplied depends on the make and model. In case of lost or damaged charging cables, we will charge you a claim for damages, which may vary by cable type. The price to replace a charging cable will cost from 2,500.00 DKK and upwards, depending on brand of vehicle and cable type. Please note it is recommended to only use the standard outlet charging cable for emergency charging. Further information on EV's can be found using the QR code in the vehicle.
- What payment cards do you accept? We accept: American Express (excluding American Express Travellers Cheque cards) Diners cards Visa credit cards Visa debit cards incl. VisaDankort and Visa Electron MasterCard credit cards MasterCard debit cards (can not be used for certain car groups and Minilease) Avis-issued charge cards Note: Visa/Mastercard debit cards and Visa Electron cannot be used for renting certain car groups or for mini leasing. VisaDankort is accepted on mini-leases, but not for rentals of group H and prestige (including short-term rentals). We do not accept Maestro cards, Cirrus cards, JCB cards, any pre-paid cards, even if they carry the Visa or MasterCard logo or any other cards not listed above. We do not accept Digital Payment Cards. Can I pay by cash? No, unfortunately, we cannot accept cash when you pick up the car. According to Danish law, it is possible to pay with cash at the end of the car rental in Danish kroner. How much is the pre-authorisation or security deposit? The amount of the pre-authorisation taken on pick-up of the rental vehicle is calculated as follows: (The vehicle rental price* + EUR 300 (or if applicable, the equivalent amount in your local currency) MINUS (Any sum you have already paid when making a "Pay Now" booking) * The "vehicle rental price" includes the vehicle rental cost and all optional extras you've requested, calculated at the start of the rental based on the intended length of the rental. For the avoidance of any doubt, any "Pay at Location" amount you owe in relation to the vehicle rental (including any optional extras) will be included as part of the pre-authorisation and will be charged to you at the end of the rental (using the card provided for the purposes of the pre-authorisation, unless agreed otherwise). ** If you buy our "Fuel Up Front" product, we will reduce the EUR 300 (or if applicable, the equivalent amount in your local currency) by the amount we charge you for the "Fuel Up Front" product The EUR 300 (or if applicable, the equivalent amount in your local currency) is included as part of the pre-authorisation in case we have to charge you at the end of the rental for any of the following: i. costs to refuel the vehicle (where relevant); ii. additional rental charges in circumstances where you fail to return the vehicle or any optional extras at the end of the agreed rental period (or to the agreed return location); iii. any additional charges or fines you incur relating to your use of the vehicle (which we have been notified of prior to you returning the vehicle, which will include, for example, charges relating to traffic violations); and/or iv. costs incurred as a result of exceeding any relevant mileage restrictions. Where the pre-authorisation we take does not cover the charges you incur, we will request you make a further payment for the additional amounts owed. In relation to certain high value vehicles, we may require you to provide us with two payment cards for the purposes of the pre-authorisation. - Public liability insurance is in accordance with the insurance laws of the country. Customer may inquire at the time of rental for additional information of the benefits, conditions and acceptance. Information not available at this time, please check at time of rental. Note: Some credit cards provide insurance coverage, with certain limitations, as a benefit of using the card to rent vehicles. The customer is advised to contact the card issuer before the rental. Any waiver must be discussed directly with the location upon arrival.
- Which countries can I take the vehicle to? Depending on the make and model of the vehicle, it is only allowed to use the vehicle in the relevant countries shown on our website www.avis.dk. It is not allowed to use the vehicle in current or former Eastern European countries and UK Mercedes cars are not allowed to be driven in Italy. Can I buy a product that allows me to drive in other countries? No, unfortunately, we do not offer any products that allow you to drive in other countries.
- Damage What products reduce the amount I have to pay if the vehicle is damaged during the rental? If you have Damage Waiver (CDW) and the vehicle, keys, any accessories or any vehicle documents are damaged, the amount you have to pay for the damage will be reduced to no more than the excess stated on your rental agreement meaning you will pay for the cost of repair or replacement plus a damage processing fee of 375 DKK or the excess, whichever is less. If you can show the damage was not in any way your fault or due to your negligence, we will refund these costs to you. If you can show the damage was less than we said, we will refund you the difference. How much is the excess? This is stated on your rental agreement, and also in your booking confirmation email. You can reduce the excess even further by buying an excess reduction product. How do I get Damage Waiver? In most cases, Damage Waiver is provided with the vehicle as standard. If it is included, it will be stated on your rental agreement and in your booking confirmation email. If it is not included, the price depends on the vehicle you are renting and the place you are renting it from. But you can expect it to cost between 100 DKK and 200 DKK a day. Is there an excess reduction product available to reduce my excess further? Yes, Super Damage Waiver (SCDW) is an excess reduction product which reduces your excess to zero. The price depends on the vehicle and location, but you can expect it to costs between 95 DKK and 115 DKK a day. Unfortunately we are unable to offer Super Damage Waiver (SCDW) when renting car group O (e.g. Van Mercedes Sprinter with lift) Will I need to pay if the windscreen is damaged? Only to be sold as an included product of SCDI What happens if I damage any optional extras I rent from you? If any optional extras are damaged, you have to pay for the cost of replacement, or their estimated repair costs in addition to the rental fee. Are there any times when the excess would not apply? Yes, the amount you pay will not be reduced if damage was caused by or as a result of: Water or fire damage Driving the vehicle without due care and attention Driving or using the vehicle in breach of your contract What do I have to pay if I do not have Damage Waiver? If the vehicle, keys, any accessories or any vehicle documents are damaged during your rental, unless you can prove the damage was not in any way your fault or due to your negligence, you will have to pay: Either the cost of replacement, or the estimated repair costs whichever is cheaper Plus our loss of use Plus an administration fee Where can I find information of damage charges I have paid? If we find damage, we will charge the amount you have to pay to your card. If you have Theft Protection waiver (TP) and the vehicle is stolen, the amount you have to pay will be reduced to no more than the excess stated on your rental agreement meaning you will pay for the cost of repair or replacement or the excess, whichever is less. If you can show the damage was not in any way your fault or due to your negligence, we will refund these costs to you. If you can show the damage was less than we said, we will refund you the difference. If you can show the loss or theft was not in any way your fault or due to your negligence, we will refund these costs to you. How much is the excess? This is stated on your rental agreement, and also in your booking confirmation email. You can reduce the excess even further by buying an excess reduction product. How do I get Theft Protection waiver? In most cases, Theft Protection waiver is provided with the vehicle as standard. If it is not included, the price depends on the vehicle you are renting and the place you’re renting it from. But you can expect it to cost between 50 DKK and 100 DKK a day. Is there an excess reduction product available to reduce my excess further? Yes, Super Theft Protection waiver (STP) is an excess reduction product which reduces your excess to zero. The price depends on the vehicle and location, but you can expect it to costs 10 DKK a day. What happens if I lose any optional extras I rent from you or if they are stolen? If any optional extras are lost or stolen, you have to pay for the cost of replacement in addition to the rental fee. Are there any times when the excess would not apply? Yes, the amount you pay will not be reduced if the loss or theft was caused by - or as a result of: Keys being left in the vehicle Keys being lost or stolen Using the vehicle in breach of the contract What do I have to pay if I do not have Theft Protection? If the vehicle, keys, any accessories or any vehicle documents are lost or stolen during your rental, yo will have to pay: The cost of replacement Plus our loss of use If you can show theft was not in any way your fault or due to your negligence, we will refund these costs to you. Where can I find information of theft charges I have paid? If a loss or theft has occurred, unless you can prove the theft was not in any way your fault or due to your negligence, we will charge the amount you have to pay to your card. Unless you have asked us to send you a receipt by post or email, you will be able to find details of this payment <a href="https://www.avis.dk/Kontakt/Fakturakopi">here</a>. Damage to people and their property What do I have to pay if I injure someone whilst driving? Third Party Liability (TPL) cover is provided with the vehicle as standard. This means that if you have an accident in our vehicle and you injure someone, including any of your passengers, or you damage anything which belongs to them, you will not have to pay any of their costs. Third Party Liability cover does not cover any death or injury suffered by the driver of our vehicle or any damage to personal items in our vehicle. Are there any times when third party liability cover would not apply? If the law requires us to provide you with third party liability cover, the minimum cover required by law will still apply but we, or our insurer, may seek to recover our costs from you if the accident was caused by: By you breaking the contract (for example allowing someone we had not approved drive the vehicle of driving whilst under the influence of alcohol, drugs or any other unlawful substance) By you breaking the law As a result of your negligence or recklessness. What products cover the driver of the vehicle? Personal Accident Insurance (PAI) covers the driver of the vehicle in the event of an accident. It reduces the amount you have to pay in the event of an accident to zero per claim depending on the claim you make. What will you pay if I do not have Personal Accident Insurance? If the driver of the vehicle is involved in an accident and is injured or dies, we will not pay their costs. Protection packages I want to buy more than one protection product, can I get a protection package? Third party protection products I have bought a protection product from an external provider, can I use it? If you decide to buy cover from someone else, you will have to pay our full costs then you will need to make a claim with the external provider to get your money back. It is your responsibility to ensure you understand the terms of any cover you buy from an external provider and for any claim you make. We are unable to help you with your claim.
